We are trying to encourage our directors to carry smaller portfolios to focus on higher capacity donors, and I believe these viewports could help make the case for those directors who are not on board.
One of the objections we run into is the belief that they need large portfolios to hit their numbers. A gift band summary of their portfolio could illustrate to them that the majority of the gifts they bring in are coming from a small portion of their portfolio, hopefully encouraging them to cut smaller fish loose in order to focus on bigger fish.
Our directors also express an inability to decide who to unassign in order to assign somebody new. A donor migration viewport could help them identify assigns whose giving is not being impacted by their efforts and could therefore be removed from their portfolio.
Wholeheartedly agree. There is an enormous amount of time being used inefficiently by multiple departments and staff because of this. IUF and IU are separate entities and there is no procedure in place which allows IUF to un-assign prospect plans that are not being utilized, creating robust portfolios. Myself and a co-worker have written a rough draft policy to address this but it was turned away, maybe a 'gift band' will help eliminate some of the inefficiencies.
